My journey to capturing headshots


Hi, I’m Gabe — a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, headshot and portrait photographer, and the guy behind M5 Photography here in Pen Argyl, PA.


People often ask me how I got into photography, and the truth is… I didn’t pick up a camera because I wanted to start a business. I picked it up because I was trying to find peace.


After serving two combat tours in Afghanistan, I came home carrying a lot more than just gear. I had memories I didn’t know how to process, emotions I didn’t yet understand, and a silence that felt louder than any battlefield. Surviver's guilt was debilitating - and it still lingers, but it is getting better every day.



At first, photography was a way to cope. I started taking photos of birds, trees, and quiet moments — the kind you only notice when the world slows down. Through the lens, I found a little calm. Over time, that calm turned into purpose.


What began as therapy evolved into something bigger: a way to connect with people. To show them how strong, approachable, and real they look when someone sees them with intention.


That’s what M5 Photography is about. It’s not just about getting “a nice headshot” or “a cute family photo.” It’s about capturing something true — whether it’s the confidence behind your brand, the warmth in your family, or just a version of you that feels like you.


I work out of a home garage studio in Pen Argyl (yes, really!), and I travel to local offices for team headshots too. The space is humble, but the work is professional, polished, and personal. And because I know how vulnerable it can feel to be in front of a camera, I take pride in making every session relaxed, simple, and honest.


M5 Photography exists because photography saved me — and now, I want to pay that forward.
